Planning:
The theme that I have chosen for my piece was a church that is in the middle of nowhere. In my piece, I have drawn a church building and mountain behind hind it because this reminded me when I went to Mexico Durango in El Salitre and in the ranch, there was my grandma church they built and the mountain I drew behind it and the side I had to add to my piece was a little river. The Mountain is representing how the Indians were here before us and how they were on the land and shows us there are mountains to show us a piece of art on the land. The river that connect from the top of the mountain coming down shows the art piece that is the only way the land can grow green and be alive.the sun in the back of the mountains is representing how the sunset is going down and telling us your, not the only one by your self we are here together.
Process:
During the process, I started to think by drawing and where I have been in my life and sketching anything that I could of. So I am seeing what I liked and I didn't like in my inspiration in my piece that inspired me and stand out to me. First I drew the church and because I knew it was going to be the biggest thing on the block print. Then I drew the mountains next going across the block print because the mountains are long and very hilly. The most important thing was the river coming down the mountain because that was all the water is coming from and making is very challenging for people to get water to wash dishes and their clothes to wear around throughout the year. When I finished sketching I transferred it to my block print and started the process to get the wooden block to prevent of cutting my self or stabbing my self. Then when I finished I used ink and rolling it onto the lino finished block print. After that, I started to place out a piece of paper into the finished product and used a washer to press down the ink onto the paper for about 5 minutes. Then I removed the paper from the lino and let the ink dry on the rack where we set the paper to dry and I follow the steps over again.
Then when your about to start the block print start by the ink you did on the ink tray roll the roller on the ink tray to get ink and then start to roll it on the block print
|
This is what it should look like when you are rolling it on the block print correctly.
|
Now when your finished rolling it on the block print grave a white sheet of paper and place the side with ink and place it on the white sheet up paper carefully and try to make it straight as possible.
|
Now by using this thing that pushes down the paper to the ink that is on your block print. |
As you can see on the white sheet of paper you can see the design and technique that you have made on your block print. |
When finishing pressing on the paper carefully tear the paper off the block print and very slowly and your final print should be printed on the paper. |
Experimental:
While making this piece of art there was a lot of rhythms ongoing to this art. In the begging, I did not know what I was thinking about what I was going to do at the moment. So I started to look in my older Personal Journal from 10th-grade year and I represented it as a church. The artiest was there already because of the notes where underneath the art picture that I have learned in my Art History classes. So I thought I wanted to do something very close style of the San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk painting. But before I started to view I saw a piece that had inspired me in San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk painting. The pie I had made is a print of using the color black for the ink.
Reflection:
Overall of the process of my piece I am very happy of what I have gotten into my self. The only problem that I have gotten into my self is that I have gotten in the the wood that we have to use during the process of cutting the block print in order to be able to complete this assignment. And also the spacing of the amount that the little thing that I had to do little by little. For the next time I have to do it I basically know what to do next time because I had experience of doing the block print and the process of doing it step by step. But I have to be aware of how much space that I have around the block print and the amount of details that I have in my drawings. I now know my own skills and limitations, and what I need to practice.
